Las Vegas casino and hotel mogel Steve Wynn is eyeing Everett as a potential location for a brand new hotel and gambling facility, according to a recent article in the Boston Herald.
Wynn has already seen a plan fall through for a casino in the Foxboro, but is hoping that a 37-acre area of land along the Mystic River in Everett might be more suited for his plans. If Wynn gets his way, the new facility would become the Boston area’s only active casino.
There is still a long way to go, though. Even if the Everett community is receptive to the idea of a luxury hotel/casino combination, it will still take years to get the design plans and construction completed.
However, adding a casino to the Everett area could have a massive impact on the local real estate market. A hotel and casino resort on par with Wynn’s other destinations (the Bellagio and Mirage in Las Vegas) would have a huge impact on not only commercial real estate in the area, but residential properties as well.
